H.L. Comeriato is an award-winning multimedia journalist living and working in Cleveland, Ohio. They currently cover all things LGBTQ+ Ohio for The Buckeye Flame – Ohio's LGBTQ+ newsroom.
Previously, they covered public health in Summit County as a 2020-2021 Report for American corps member. Their work also includes reported stories on housing, healthcare, environmental health, education, government, politics, policy, legislation and arts, culture and entertainment.
Comeriato's work has appeared via USA Today, WKSU/Ideastream Public Media, the Akron Beacon Journal, the Athens Independent, Cleveland Scene Magazine, the Columbus Free Press and Cincinnati CityBeat, among others.
They are the recipient of the National LGBTQ+ Journalism Association (NLGJA)'s 2024 Sarah Pettit Memorial Award for LGBTQ+ Journalist of the Year.
